Oldham Fly Fishing Club – Social Distancing Instructions for all Members.

Access to Reservoirs.

  • Members who are currently working have exclusive access to Kitcliffe and Piethorne on Saturdays and Sundays; they may also fish any day after 5pm ( subject to no more than 4 weekly visits)
  • Anglers with membership numbers ending in 1,3,5,7 or 9 have access to Piethorne on Mondays, Wednesdays until 1.00pm and Fridays. They have access to Kitcliffe on Tuesday, Wednesdays after 1.00pm and Thursday.
  • Anglers with membership numbers ending 0,2,4,6,or 8 have access to Kitcliffe on Monday, Wednesday until 1.00pm and Friday. They have access to Piethorne on Tuesday, Wednesday after 1.00pm and Thursday.

 

On Arrival:

  • Park in your usual place, remove tackle from the vehicle and make your way without delay to the water you are going to fish.
  • Maintain social distance while walking and avoid joining any informal group.
  • Maintain hand hygiene after touching locks, gate catches etc.
  • Tackle up at the spot you are going to fish and not in a place where others might congregate.

While You’re Fishing:

  • Wear your ID badge prominently.
  • Maintain a 25 metre gap between yourself and other anglers.
  • Do not exchange flies or any items of tackle with other anglers.
  • Do not offer to net fish for any other angler.
  • Do not retrieve or pick up any item of lost property; it is each member’s own responsibility to look after personal equipment.
  • If necessary, politely inform members of the public who come close, that we have a strict social distancing policy in place.

 

After Fishing:

  • Disassemble tackle on the bank so there is no delay when reaching your vehicle.
  • Return directly to your vehicle maintaining strict social distancing if you encounter other anglers or members of the public.
  • Do not place a return in a catch return box.
  • Make a written record of your catch noting: Reservoir fished, date, number and size of fish caught, number and size of those dispatched.
  • Every 14 days send a composite catch return by email to offftc@gmail.com : If you do not have access to email keep a record and we will advise on submission at a later date.

 

 

Please note that there are no restrictions on access to The River Tame fishery but anglers fishing the river must adhere to all social distancing guidance.

 

This guidance will be reviewed every 30 days and where necessary will be amended to both meet the needs of members and ensure the maximum levels of protection for everyone associated with the club.
